CEO and Co-Founder
Whenever I see a new road, I experience two temptations. The first one is to run on it and the other is to take a journey to its end. I've recently reached the end of a road that took me 17 years to reach its end. It was the journey to co-found and build my previous company, Cyclades Corporation. Cyclades became a global company present in 15 countries selling to 85% of Fortune 100 companies; it was a journey of success.
The new journey is Neocatena Networks where my contribution is in the areas of entrepreneurship, vision, strategies, leadership and execution. My ultimate goal is to make a difference for our customers, our partners and our passionate team. The time is right for a new journey of opportunities, a time of rapid changes for customers and for business.
I hold an Electronic Engineer degree from the University of Campinas, Sao Paulo, Brazil.
Lukas Grunwald
CTO and Co-Founder
Let's make this world a little bit better of a place to live in. Before you can secure it, you have to understand how it works and how to break it. Then, the best security solution can be delivered based on experience and knowledge. No matter what language you speak, what culture you live in, the problems are always the same, and I have seen most of the IT security and RFID challenges at large.
I have first-hand experience as an entrepreneur in Europe and Asia and am now helping build NeoCatena in Silicon Valley and position the company as a world-class provider of RFID security solutions. I co-authored RFDump, an RFID audit tool, available as free software published under GPL, and publicly demonstrated the first cloning attack against an ePassport live at BlackHat 2006.
I draw on 15 years of experience in IT security, specializing in the security of wireless / wired data and communications networks, forensic analysis, auditing and active networking. I'm often featured in industry publications, such as Wired and RFID Journal and also participate actively in conferences such as Hackers at Large, Hacking in Progress, Network World, Internet World, Linux World (USA/Europe), Linux Day Luxembourg, Linux Tag, CeBIT and Blackhat Briefings.
Boris Wolf
VP of Business Development and Co-Founder
I first came to Silicon Valley in 1999 as an intern and instantly fell in love with the Bay Area. Now I'm looking back on almost 10 years of experience in designing large enterprise software systems and helping startup companies engineering innovative products. I have studied in Hannover, Germany and in Stanford and am holding a master degree in electrical engineering from University of Hannover, Germany.
For several years now I am partnering with Lukas doing research on RFID technology with a special focus on both the possibilities and the risks of this new technology. Together we co-authored RFDump and numerous publications on the topic. What started out of passion and genuine interest in a new technology has now become a real business where we are joining forces building a great company.
Tony Newman
VP of Sales EMEA
Whenever I am presented with a new opportunity that stretches the imagination, I am compelled to take it. Having worked previously with both John and Lukas as VP for EMEA for Cyclades Corporation, I have a great belief in their ability to deliver on new technologies and strategies. I could not therefore refuse their invitation to join the NeoCatena team and embark on yet another journey.
I have over 20 years of experience, successfully managing EMEA operations for corporate organizations based both in the US and Europe. This experience has ranged from managing fully formed enterprises to achieve set goals, to organizations taking their first steps into EMEA.
I hold a degree in Computing Science from Liverpool University, United Kingdom.
